New Record/Bad Timing

Hello all,

It’s been awhile since we’ve updated things so here it goes:

First off, the record is here! The Scenery is now available on Bandcamp and will soon be available on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, and many other sites. For now, hear and purchase it right here: You can also listen to it on the page using that little widget on the right —–>

The killer cover photo was taken by my good friend, Lauren Opaciuch. Check out here work here:

While I wish that the release would be a springboard for shows and more activity, it sadly is not. Mount Gomery, the trio that we have become, will be no more. Our bassist, Tommy has moved on to other projects and we wish him well in all of his future musical projects. Dan and I will continue to work together to record the new DRX record this spring. I have some ideas in the works but will be taking some time to write and get focused. Until then, thank you to everyone who ever came to a show or bought a record.

Mount Gomery: The once solo effort of Ryan Hare has grown to into a collaborative trio, blending ethereal melodies with dynamic, space-rock riffage. The past two years have shown significant growth, especially with the addition of Tommy Orza on bass. Mount Gomery’s new album, “The Scenery,” will be released in the coming months and showcases the expansion in sound while keeping the intimate nature of Hare’s first record intact. Mount Gomery will be performing these songs with multi-instrumentalist, rapper, and producer, Jon Grabowski on the bass for the summer tour.

As an added bonus, Dan Romans and Ryan Hare will be a part of Douglas Thomas’ backing band!
Douglas Thomas: Blending folk, rock, and world music, Douglas Thomas, a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter based in Lancaster, PA, draws on his rural roots to craft sounds that rock in every sense of the word: get up and shake/lie down and sleep. Thomas’ reflective, emotive, and visionary sounds forge a new path for American songwriting, and the results are stunning. His new album, “Gone to Seed,” will be released this August. Please take a moment to check out his Kickstarter campaign and his website.

We’ve been hard at work the last few months preparing our new album. Besides editing our mixes, we have been planning a ten day summer tour with our pals in Douglas Thomas. Dan and I will be a part of Douglas’ backing band so be sure to check out his tunes. We’ll be posting some more details as the dates are finalized so keep a lookout for those.

Below is the cover to “The Scenery,” featuring a photo from our friend Lauren Opaciuch. Check out some of her other work here:

The Scenery

We just returned from tracking drums, bass, and guitar for our new album, “The Scenery.” Doug Raus over at Brighton Sound Studio killed it and we suggest you check him out if you’ve got any projects of your own coming up. We’ll be heading back in a few weeks to track vocals and will have this for you in the next few months.

Also, we’ll be playing at Mr. Beery’s in Bethpage, NY on May 17th. Hope to see your faces.

Hey friends,

Our last show at Radio Bushwick killed and we couldn’t have been happier with the turnout and with all the other bands that played. Our friend, Zoe Weber, was kind enough to take some flattering pictures of us. I didn’t want to diminish the quality of her work so I threw them up on a flickr account. Go check them out HERE or click the pic below.

In other news, we’ll be playing at the Gutter on Feb. 22nd with our new friends Tiny Hazard and Analog Birds. Check these bands out now! You won’t be disappointed.

Lastly, we will be entering Brighton Sound Studios in mid April to record the follow-up record to In Series. We found this studio after discovering the dudes in Son Step. Our sound has grown exponentially in the past 2 years and even more so with the addition of our rumble brother, Tommy Orza on bass. Expect big riffs, crooning melodies, and a batch of material that we’ve been testing out for the past year.

As always, we thank you for the continued love and support.

Mount Gomery welcomes…

After a couple of years of searching, Mount Gomery has finally found a bassist! Tommy Orza (On the Might of Princes, Villa Vina, Limbs) is a great bassist and a righteous dude who has been breathing some new life into the MG tunes. Keep a lookout for a debut show with him sometime soon.

Here’s to a new beginning!
